True plug and play

Until it’s turned on, the Samsung T10 looks like a piece of plastic. Hit the power button and a set of touch controls light up giving a space age look.

The button functions are easy to determine and we never needed to resort to the instructions to figure things out as the menu system was equally easy to use.

Like most players, it ships with its own software or can be managed through Windows Media Player. Desktop connection is via USB and it worked without the need to install any drivers — it was truly plug and play.

Sound quality through the supplied headphones was crisp and clear and on a par with our Senheissers. Output could be adjusted for different musical genres using the equaliser in the on-screen menu. We liked the “Rock” setting for most of our listening but there are plenty of options so most users should be able to find a mode to suit.

Video playback was reasonable. The T10’s 2in screen is the smallest screen we’d want to use for video playback. Video plays in landscape mode so that movies take advantage of the widest aspect of the screen.

The T10 comes in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models.
