It's very telling of both the Australian public an our own news outlets, that the UK based Sky News is covering a local achievement at a local event.

On a different note; Well done Simon.

Nice. My only concern about fully electric cars is the quantity of dangerous materials in the batteries, and what happens when they're past their useful life?

The big issue in OZ is that you're changing from a power sauce that burns petrol/diesel producing CO2 to a power sauce that relies on burning coal releasing similar levels of CO2 per kW.
Or in the case of this video what looks like a petrol generator on the back of a diesel truck.
Until OZ upgrades its power supply to either renewable resources or the dreaded nuclear “won't somebody think of the children” power, plug in cars just wont be any greener than a petrol/diesel car.

It is sad this didn't make the news in OZ but is probably being covered by Sky news because the Tesla is available in the UK *cough* cash4coments *cough* not in OZ.

Li-ion batteries do have safety issues in the result of a crash this should be improved with the market moving to Li-pol batteries that are less volotile.
